Are you a war veteran with tons of ballistic helmets? Or are you a military officer with too much helmets that you wish to get rid of some of them? I’m sure that you must have thought about the best ways to dispose your helmets. Do you simply trash it? Convert it to a decorative piece? Or, give it away to a helmet collection organization?
If you are confused about what to do with your helmet, you have come to the right place. There are tons of possible ways to dispose of your ballistic helmet. Here are a few of them.
- Donate to Emergency Service Units and First Service Responders
One great way to get rid of your old ballistic helmets is to give it out to your local emergency units. You can pass it down to a medical service training center or ask your local police and fire department if they accept such helmets.
The medical emergency units can make use of the helmet during their training to learn how to rescue an injured person who has a helmet on. They would be able to learn how to carefully remove the helmet.
The police and fire department needs helmets to be safe during patrols and rescue missions respectively. So, this would be a kind gesture.
- Recycle It
If you think that your helmet is not fit to be reused, then opt for recycling. Take out the straps and buckles (if any), also get rid of other attachments. Then, check out the helmet shell to find out if there is any recycle symbol on it. If you do find it, contact your local recycling agency and ask if they accept it.
- Donate it to a School
You can donate your helmet to a local school also. Kids enjoy role-playing and having a real ballistic helmet would just make playing as a soldier or policeman a lot more fun.
