Hiking is not an easy activity. It’s very strenuous, energy-sapping, and sometimes frustrating. Like the boy scout’s motto “be prepared”, taking necessary items would make the demanding yet interesting journey interesting and convenient.
- The first item that should be taken along is water as hydration is necessary. You would be burning a lot of energy hence water should be put into your backpack which should be lightly packed and not saturated with a lot of seemingly useless items.
- A Sandwich would not also be a bad idea as you don’t want to subject yourself to the throes of hunger and the pangs that come with them.
- Hiking shoes are important. They must be convenient and not too tight as you would be covering a lot of distance.
- A map of the area being covered is necessary as you don’t want to be stranded in a forest full of mambas and phytons.
- Weather convenient clothes should also be worn as body cleaving clothes would put you in great discomfort and restraint. A hike should be a free experience. A romance with nature and everything in between.
- A compass should not be forgotten. Remember high school bearing and distance in mathematics? Diving into the unknown is a real nerve freezing experience.
- For a hiker with respiratory tract issues or predilections, it is safe for you to take all your prescribed meds and particularly your inhaler for Asthma patients.
- Waterproof wear or a raincoat would be needed. It would be foolery to depend on the weather forecast as the showers might come sooner than you expect and that’s a terrible scarring hike experience.
- Finally, a portable first aid kit wouldn’t be a bad idea as you need to be prepared because of sudden insect bites, injuries or bruises which may occur.
